Kendall De Rue is a Belgian artist based in Antwerp.

His work draws on the streams of thought and systems to which we are subject as individuals: from sociological observations of architectural and social differences to national symbolism and the influence of a consumer society.

Symbolism plays a crucial role here, especially when it carries political or ideological connotations. His work stems from a certain skepticism toward established values and nostalgias that idealize or distort the past. These images and ideas are examined and stripped of their original meaning, until paintings emerge that
visually dissect these structures.
